David Gest, who is already notorious for his vulgarity, certainly enjoys pushing the boundaries of bad taste.

The former I'm A Celebrity star made an appearance last night apparently dressed as his ex wife Liza Minnelli, who is currently being treated in a US hospital after collapsing on stage earlier this week.

David was starring as the "Tranny Granny" in the Twisted Carol panto, but his short black wig and dramatic eye make-up made the similarity to his famous former lover rather striking.

The pair famously went through an extraordinarily bitter divorce battle in 2006, with Gest accusing the Cabaret star of carrying a sexually transmitted disease.

In turn, the Minnelli claimed that her estranged husband tried to "poison" her.

The daughter of Judy Garland, has been treated for alcoholism and suffered bad health in recent years, collapsed on stage during a performance in Sweden and was rushed back to the United States for medical treatment yesterday.

The singer was performing in a Christmas show Wednesday in Goteborg, Sweden's second biggest city, but collapsed as she walked off stage after finishing her fourth act.

Zlakto Nedanovski, a spokesman for the concert organizers said: "As she walked down the steps, she passed out. She was taken immediately to her hotel where a doctor was waiting."

He said Minnelli was flown to the United States on Thursday on the advice of her doctors there.

Minnelli was performing alongside several Swedish artists in a show called "A Classic Christmas Night."
