LOS ANGELES (Hollywood Reporter) - James Gandolfini will co-star in and produce "Sexual Healing," a biopic about singer Marvin Gaye.
Jesse L. Martin already has been cast as Gaye in the film, which will be directed by Lauren Goodman.
The film focuses on the last years of Gaye's life. Gandolfini will play promoter Freddy Cousaert. Goodman wrote the script, loosely based on Steve Turner's book "Trouble Man."
The $15 million production plans to begin principal photography in April on locations in Massachusetts; Ostend, Belgium; and Los Angeles.
Gandolfini won the SAG Award on Sunday night for outstanding performance by a male actor in a drama series for "The Sopranos."

In 1983, exhausted after his Love tour, the singer moved in with his parents in Los Angeles. Gaye's father Marvin Sr. shot his son to death after a business argument on April 1, 1984, one day before his forty-fifth birthday.
